67 Minutes Of Charity For Makotoko
28 July 2010
While a lot of people wanted to get involved in giving 67 minutes of their time to a worthy cause, many were short on ideas on what exactly to do. Enter "My 67 Mintutes", a Facebook group that caught the imagination of many Bloemfonteiners, with over 300 people coming to support the cause and donate various items.

What surprised campaign organisers was that many donations were brand new items purchased specifically for the 67 minutes event.

The items were donated to families living in the informal setlement of Makotoko outside Bloemfontein.

"This turnout caught us off-guard as were were anitcipating two vehicle loads of donations," said Maryna Roux one of the campaign organisers.

"When we left for the delivery of the charity to the recipients, we had to pack nine vehicles and a trailer to the hilt.

The donations included clothing, groceries, toys, personal hygiene products and pet-food.
